Today we're talking about BRANDING!

Allison Andrews is our guest today and she's remarkable! Allison Andrews is a multiple Emmy award-winning television producer. She left a successful career in TV news to start her own content creation company and is now embarking on the story of her lifetime... visiting 50 places she's never been the year she turns 50.. all while juggling life as a single mom of a teenager and as a business owner! Her heart project, Milemarker 50, was born out of a chaotic period in her life and is a reminder we all have mile markers we can overcome with grace, and love and a little adventure! Her first children's book "The Adventures of Sid and Eli" comes out this Spring.

We talk about how you should own your expertise and that you don't have to be the best person in the world, just the best in the room. She reminds us that you can still learn from the experts above you, but you have a lot to give to the people that want to be in your spot. When you're defining your personal brand, it's important to consider what solution you provide. If you keep the focus on the problem that you solve, that helps your community the most. Always sell your solution, not a product! When a customer can connect with you and your story, it's more powerful.

Journal Prompt- Write down one problem that you solve, one thing you want to be known for and then list 3 different topics that you feel comfortable with and that goes with your brand and expertise. Doing this exercise will bring you more clarity on how you can best serve your ideal client.

Wait, what's an ideal client?! Ohhhh great question... And we're going to solve that today too! Here's the link for my newest freebie on how to determine who your ideal client is and how you can best serve them.

Another great resource to dig deep into your brand is Donald Miller's Building a StoryBrand: Clarify Your Message So Customers Will Listen.

One thing I LOVED that Allison covered was how to pitch to more traditional news outlets. Traditional media can seem intimidating but she breaks it down to such a basic formula that it's totally doable! She talks about what specifically to send, how to leverage ongoing news and how to relate it to your subject matter and the general dos and don'ts.
